Indian Chai Tea, from the Portland Oregonian, c. 1990
- 4 green cardamom pods
- 1 c water
- 1 slice fresh ginger, about 1/4: thick
- 2 black tea bags
- 1/2 c nonfat milk
- 2 tblsp honey
Lightly crush cardamom pods.
Bring water, cardamom pods and ginger to boil in small saucepan. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
Add tea bags, stir in milk and heat tea to simmer.
Stir in honey and strain into a cup. Serve warm or iced.
