Mom's Apple Crisp
This can also be done with blueberries, blackberries, peaches, cherries, etc.
Preheat oven to 325˚
Fruit mixture:
- 4 cups peeled, sliced tart apples (Or other fruit. If done with blueberries, you might smush some of them to get juice. I wouldn't bother peeling peaches, but this is a matter of preference.)
- 1/2 c sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon (as always, this is OPTIONAL. Good subs include mace, ginger, nutmeg)
Mix all the ingredients, toss and place in a greased 1 1/2 qt baking dish.
Topping (mix together):
- 1/3 c sifted flour
- 2/3 c nonfat dry milk
- 3 tblsp sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp cinnamon (see above)
Cut up a stick of butter and mix this with until crumbly.
Sprinkle crumbs over the fruit mixture.
Bake at 325˚ for 45 minutes.
